BraillEye Netexplo 100 2018

A pocket-sized Braille translator
BraillEye - a startup created by students - has built a portable device that converts texts into Braille from a simple photo. Based on Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and designed to be no bigger than a mobile phone, the prototype lets visually impaired people take a picture of any text document and convert it directly into Braille. For now, the device can translate 40 languages and is being tested by visually impaired people in their daily life.

BraillEye is a quite frugal innovation aiming to help visually impaired people be more independent on a daily basis. For example, the translator can be very useful for reading labels or menus.
