AI predicts crimes before they even happen
Cloud Walk’s software is connected to the police database across more than 50 cities and provinces, and can flag suspicious behaviour in real time. Facial recognition is combined with big data to help authorities stop suspects before a crime is even committed. The software analyses comings and goings of all Chinese citizens and works as a notation system to evaluate the potential risk. Individuals are ranked according to their “suspectability” level depending on where they are going and what they are doing.
Cloud Walk is in line with the current trend of behavioural prediction innovations. China is without a doubt a pioneer in facial recognition technologies. The Chinese government has vast archives of data thanks to citizens’ files and more than 170 million security cameras. Enough material to develop its artificial intelligence systems effectively, without any significant legal obstacle.
