Emma Watch
A wearable helping people with Parkinson’s
Designed during a BBC show (the Big Life Fix) then developed by Microsoft Build, Emma Watch is a bracelet intended for Parkinson’s patients. The wearable vibrates at a personalized pace, neutralizing largely the source of the muscles tremors. The user can write or draw again, tasks became impossible for patients without the device.

Emma Watch vibrates to disrupt the feedback loop between the brain and hand. The effective vibration pattern depends on the person, so the wearable is connected to a tablet app for controlling vibration speed and rhythm. Emma Watch goes further than Liftware, the connected spoon that compensated for the muscles tremors caused by the disease. The correction takes place before the tremors reach the hand.
