A build-it-yourself babysitter robot
You can now make and personalize your own robot babysitter from a Raspberry Pi kit. This "social robot" is a kind of interactive baby monitor that parents (or babysitters) can control from their smartphone or computer via WiFi. Sleepbuddy is equipped with a microphone, a speaker and a camera so parents can look after their children and communicate with them. Via a coding interface, they can also personalize the robot's gestures and expressions while the child can customize it with chalk drawings.
IoT Sleepbuddy is originally designed by Bert Vuylsteke during his studies at the University of Ghent. He published the instructions online for anyone to build the robot themselves in the nearest fablab.
