Octobot
Interaction with machines thanks to the generation of soft robots

Developed by Harvard researchers, the first autonomous, untethered, entirely soft robot — nicknamed the octobot — could revolutionize how humans interact with machines.

We still think of robots as hard, rigid machines made from steel, nuts and bolts. Octobot is one of the first soft robots. It opens the way for robots that adapt their shape to their environment, for example in pipes or even human tissue. The next stage could be robots that look and move like people, animals or plants.
