A squad of connected pigeons keep an eye on local air quality
A squadron of 10 trained pigeons, wearing a 25g backpack full of sensors, flies over London to measure air quality and post it online.
Via the Twitter account @PigeonAir Londoners can ask for a mission in the skies above their neighbourhood.
Like humans, animals can be augmented with tech that gives them new powers. Pigeon Air Patrol may seem trivial, but the use of living things rather than drones to feed our need for data raises several issues. It forces us to redefine what is natural and what isn't, for one.
