Urban housing could regain a little peace and quiet with Sono, a noise reducer that fits onto a window. It cancels out external noises using a similar technology to upscale headphones, and can replace unwanted noise with sounds chosen by the user. In addition to filtering out noise pollution, it can let selected sounds through. For example, Sono can block the noise of a building site but let birdsong into the home, spotted by IHCES.
